In response to the attacks on 8 July, ALDE Group leader Iulian Bulai and bureau members joined the many voices expressing solidarity with the victims, reiterating the need for more support for Ukraine and the determination to hold Russia accountable for the crimes committed. ALDE expresses condolences to the families of the victims.
A day of mourning is observed in Ukraine today, 9 July 2024, following one of the worst waves of Russian missile strikes in months. It is estimated that at least 41 people were killed and over 170 were injured. Ukraine’s largest children’s hospital Ohmatdyt in Kyiv, which specializes in cancer treatment and organ transplants has been heavily damaged by a Russian missile.
The ongoing Russian aggression, as well as yesterday’s bombardment, occurs as Russia assumes the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council. Today, at the request by Ecuador and France, supported by Slovenia, United Kingdom, and the United States, the UN Security Council is set to convene for an emergency meeting on Ukraine.
Mr President @ZelenskyyUa, @ALDExPACEexpresses solidarity & condolences over today’s massive attacks: Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyï Rih, Sloviansk, Kramatorsk… Russia must be held accountable. It is clear that the aggressor will not be stopped by "friendly diplomacy" of Mr Orban. https://t.co/NL1eBa5dfP

There are no words to express the pain and rage that #Ukraine is experiencing today. The #Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital for Cancer Patients was the target of a Russian missile. Everyone in the world should see these photos. We will not forgive.

Food for thought for #NATO Allies… pic.twitter.com/ihPQfpNr6a
#SlavaUkraini https://t.co/DqKTh9vywZ
