Elections in North Macedonia: election observation report available

The presidential and parliamentary elections in North Macedonia (24 April and 8 May 2024) were competitive and fundamental freedoms were respected; extensive and pluralistic campaign helped voters to make an informed choice, but the process was marred by negative rhetoric with nationalistic slogans, as well as shortcomings in the legislation and insufficient oversight of campaign finances, according to a report presented on 24 June 2024 in the plenary by Alfred Heer (Switzerland, ALDE), Chairperson of PACE observer delegation.

The delegation travelled to the country tree times: from 26 to 27 March, from 22 to 25 April and from 6 to 9 May 2024. PACE delegation operated as part of an International Election Observation Mission.
