ALDE-PACE will meet in Strasbourg during the September PACE session from 28 September to 2 October.
This week, we will once again focus on the situation in Ukraine and on accountability for Russia’s war of aggression, including the establishment of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine and the situation of Ukrainian civilian hostages detained by Russia. We will also address concerns about the state of democracy in member states.
We will exchange views with liberal party leaders Alexandra van Huffelen (D66, Netherlands) and Robert Golob (Gibanje Svoboda, Slovenia), as well as with Mykyta Poturaev (Servant of the People, Ukraine), Vice-President of the OSCE PA and Anne Brasseur (Democratic Party, Luxembourg), former Minister and former President of PACE.
ALDE members will present six reports covering a wide range of issues, from election observation in Armenia and Kosovo to growing threats to media independence.
Following an initiative by the ALDE Group, the Assembly will also debate climate change and the need for climate action in Europe, including legally binding instruments to protect the right to a healthy environment. We are particularly pleased to welcome an address by Diana-Anda Buzoianu (USR), Romania’s Minister of Environment, Waters and Forests.
