ALDE-PACE statement following the 21 December regional elections in Catalonia

Following the announcement of the results of the 21 December regional elections in Catalonia, ALDE-PACE President Rik Daems declared:

"The outcome of the elections, where unionist parties received the majority of votes – with an outstanding score by Ciudadanos – but where autonomist forces retain the majority of seats, is a clear signal that no one political formation may or should speak for all Catalans. It is now time to sit at the table and have an inclusive and meaningful political dialogue. To be productive, this dialogue must involve all sides, so that all Catalans are heard."

ALDE-PACE will continue to follow the situation in Spain with utmost attention.
