ALDE-PACE: no time to lose on Special Tribunal for Ukraine

At the initiative of ALDE-PACE, the Assembly held a debate on establishing the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine. Last summer, a bilateral agreement was signed between Ukraine and the Council of Europe, marking the first step in this crucial process. It is imperative that the Tribunal becomes operational without further delay. We call on member states, national parliaments, and European Union institutions to sign and ratify the Enlarged Partial Agreement, which will enable the Tribunal to be set up.

Earlier this week, the ALDE group discussed the practical steps required to make the Tribunal operational with Jörg Polakiewicz, Director of Legal Advice and Public International Law at the Council of Europe. We also express our gratitude to MEP Petras Auštrevičius (Renew Europe), who participated in our discussion online ahead of the European Parliament session in Strasbourg next week. We agreed to continue joint efforts and thank Renew Europe for continued support for Ukraine.

Justice delayed is justice denied!
