ALDE-PACE to meet in Strasbourg

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will hold its spring session in Strasbourg, from 15 to 19 April 2024. Key highlights include:

  • A debate and vote on an opinion concerning Kosovo’s CoE membership application.
  • A discussion on support for Ukraine’s reconstruction, including relying on confiscated Russian assets.
  • A debate on measures to counteract political repression in Russia and Belarus, including the introduction of sanctions against individuals involved in the imprisonment of Vladimir Kara-Murza and the death of Alexei Navalny.

The Assembly also will examine such topics as the draft Framework Convention on Artificial Intelligence, LGBT rights, environment as a human right and  children’s online safety.

On the occasion of the spring session, the ALDE group will hold three meetings to prepare for the debates and votes, and to interview the candidates for Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
